If you get too many interruption while you are trying to get into your 'concentration mode' you will get very frustrated.

At the end of the day you'll go home thinking: "what have I done today?" and you can not really answer that question.

If you really want to be productive you have to be in your concentration mode at least twice a day, but the problem is that we humans need at least 5 minutes to get in this mode. Daily practice prevents us from working in this mode because we are interrupted within those 5 minutes.

Some people even think that interruptions are a necessary part of the day-to-day experience.

Solution: manage interruptions successfully by creating acceptable boundaries. You can reduce the number of interruptions you receive and get your really important work done during the day in stead of at night at home. Make clear to your colleagues when it is ok to interrupt and when it's not ok.

E-mail: it's not only your colleagues, but e-mail is also an important source of interruption. What do you do when you see that "New mail" pop-up windows? Yes, you stop doing what you where doing and open the e-mail. After a minute you come to the conclusion that this e-mail is not urgent and not important, but you stopped working on that important report.

The vast amount of e-mail is not the problem, but the you process and organize your e-mail is the problem.

Being a knowledge worker is not easy. Every day you have to deal with a vast amount of information, interruptions, phone calls, requests, e-mail and in the meantime you have to meet the deadlines for those important projects.

Our 1 day training Time Management will learn you how you can be more effective, work with less stress, set your priorities and gain at least one hour a day.

Altough I process my e-mail so that my Inbox is empty at least once a day, I don't like it. I like the result: an empty Inbox and an overviuw of the things I have to do.

By processing my Inbox every day again I spend as less time in my mailbox as possible so I can spend more on things that matter, creative things.

How do I do that? Read the rest of this article to find out how can...

Empty your Inbox in half the time

Working smarter means that you get better results in less time by changing speed, increasing focus, and organizing things to do. But working smart comes with a risc. If you work smart, you'll have more free time. If you use this free time to take on more commitments, you are just as busy as before. Working smarter should result in more happiness and not in frantic overachievement.
